TASK
Week 13
Weapon Sculpting
Sculpted a forearm blade based on the first design idea in 2D.
Tried to carve the weapon shape using a rectangular shape by
literally just cutting it and winging the proportion.
The above method was definitely not working thus I went on a
search for youtube tutorials on sculpting swords to explore the
methods used. I managed to find one that uses subtraction method
using subtools and dynameshing them to create clean shapes. It
works by creating a mould for the base shape. I also finally set
the reference picture as a background to nail down the correct
proportion.
Transparency Setting
When the weapon has transparency, it did not look like what I visualised, so I retained its opacity and only alter the visual in the splash art.
Week 14
Rigging Attempt
It was a breeze sculpting the z-spheres for the skeleton and I knew things were going too good to be true. Disaster struck when I meshed the rigging and tried to move the skeleton.
Masking Attempt
It worked a lot faster but I could not get the legs right due to my limited foundation of anatomy.
Pose Change (Rigging)
Andddd we are back to the good ol' rigging. I settled with an easier posing and this time I was able to zremesh the subtool enough for the skin to not overlap like an accordion.

Coloured model turntable
Rendering
Explored different perspective before deciding on the 2nd one for splash art.

The subtool was in too high-poly that it turned into
Michelin Tyre’s mascot. Zbrush did not allow me to zremesh it to an even lower
poly, so I tried to pose the model through masking
afterwards.

-Changed eyes position
-Added visual effects for lightning power and rim lights
FEEDBACK
Week 14
- Taper the 1st layer of platform
Week 14
- Taper the 1st layer of platform
- For the poster, must render in perspective on
- Orthographic view no need perspective
- Polish the clothing creases, sharpen certain area
- Sharpen muscles like the hamstring and near the crotch area (not too
much)
- When doing the lighting, play with warm and cold tones, paint with different layer modes, the aim is to show features of the model

REFLECTION
The sense of achievement is quite indescribable after completing the
3d model especially since it looks like a lively character that can be
in a game. There are many professional 3d works on ArtStation that I
admire and some have process breakdowns which I can really learn from.
During the whole course of this module, I am super thankful that I
have peers to exchange knowledge with and to share our frustrations
whenever Zbrush is throwing a tantrum. Besides, Mr Kanaan's guidance
and constructive feedback in every tutorial session has helped me
tremendously and made it possible for me to improve better. The
thought of sculpting my own model and having a chance to 3D print it
was one of the biggest motivations for me to do my best in the
project, and I actually gained more interest in 3D modelling compared
to the first day of class.
