TASK

Week 11

Accessories Blockout
Blocked out the braided rope across the body and shoulder, chest bandage, creases on the upper body clothes, bone shoulder cap, and gauntlets.

Week 12

Accessories Refinement
The braided rope was sculpted in a separate file so it's easier for me to make it into an IMM brush (followed a tutorial video). More details were added to the bone shoulder cap and the shin leather armour. It was difficult to sculpt the gauntlets to look like metal, but Mr Kanaan then made a demo on using radial symmetry function which greatly gave me the hope to save the gauntlet model (shown in progression slides below).

Colouring Attempt
At first, I wanted to go with a different colour palette (red) that is different from what I have chosen in Character Design module (purple-pink). However, I was running out of time to explore the new colour palette and just went with the latter colour palette.

FEEDBACK

Week 12
- thumb drop it and make it longer, fix the joints of the index finger
- sharpen the bone shoulder cap, there could be some cuts on it
- add highlights and contrast to colour, add leather patterns, add necklaces etc.

Week 11
- the material of the gauntlets has to be more distinguished, at first the cuff looks like leather instead of metal

REFLECTION

It is daunting to explore IMM brush and tutorial videos on making specific accessories because at first, everything can seem overwhelming. However, it will always be doable in the end as long as I follow the guide properly. A lot more functions in Zbrush were explored in this project and I found it beneficial to my work process whenever I separately sculpt a detailed part in another file. I also learned to attach materials to the clothing despite it being tricky and weird to navigate around but in the end, I managed to make it work.
