TASK
Composition
I'm super glad Mr Kanaan gave us a jumpscare with the timer
exercise. Our first attempt in class was 30 minutes for a
composition and when I got home I forced myself to strictly
do each under 20 minutes. Yes, it might still be considered
long for just a sketch without any superb perspective but
generating ideation varieties has been one of my weaknesses
and I'm satisfied with my mini-improvement.

Silhouettes Ideation
Knowing that especially environment design is foreign to
me, i know I have to continue doing these timer thingy to
ensure I don't stare at the screen and zone out in fear.
Each building sketch was timed to be completed in under 15
minutes. I also enjoyed the process of starting from a
silhouette and then only sketches and expansion. Though
the task still feels scary at least it is more doable with
this approach.

Thumbnail studies
Doing 6 angles of the same subject was quite a challenge
as I had to ensure variety in each of the compositions.
Gathering enough references for compositions I wished to
modify did facilitate the process.
Hero assets
The time taken to collect references was probably way
longer than I should have spent but I wanted to make
sure there was a clear direction in my architecture
style. Having sketches of hero assets further
solidified how I want my buildings to look as
previously it was mostly still a blurry image in my
mind. I think I would have benefitted more if I got
the world setting clearly laid out in the first place
as it gave me a bigger overview of how the buildings
can exist in the space.

FEEDBACK
Week 3
- Consider how the terrain would affect the building
- Consider how the terrain would affect the building
- Composite the placement/ elevation paired with story-telling
- Building can be sectioned more in terms of shapes, logos, etc.
- Consider which components should be used or enhanced, don't have
to necessarily use hextech, can create a new lore for a new logo
REFLECTION
The idea of having a dream IP to work towards and create
exterior/interior designs revolving around them was quite motivating. It was made clear that we would be required to make lots of sketches and at times it felt like I was going nowhere for my Project 1 progress because I was revising the same ideas with sketches for weeks. However, the skills really came in handy and I especially felt it while working on my Project 2 interior where there was a glimpse of instinctual sketching even if it only lasted for a few minutes. There was one time when I lazed out on sketching and just jumped into refining from blobs of silhouette, and it did not work out. At least it was a humble lesson for me to learn and continue strengthening my sketching skills.
