TASK

3D Blockout
As my lesson was learnt in Environment Design, I know that putting my time into blocking out 3D will pay off to make sure the perspective is 100% correct. I was running out of time and knew I had to work smart, so I downloaded 3D assets of gears and wheels. I would love to learn to model them but it's not the time. The scale of the vehicle was what I struggled with and spent lots of hours nitpicking. The vision turned out to be very different from my 2d sketches due to not planning the width in a good manner. Only when I got to 3D, I realised the size for the turbo was actually unrealistic and I made a few compromises to fit two of them on the same plane. The height of the vehicle was also constantly revised as it was too low to the ground which caused the vehicle to look flat with no volume.

Lineart
Again, I was struggling with wheels except this time I did not know how to approach the protruding parts of the tyre threads. After a feedback session, I've decided that the type of tractor wheels is not necessary for the function of my vehicle and I should work smart by using multiply layer for the threads of the tyre.

FEEDBACK

Week 10
- The wheels may be more suitable if the 3d model one is chosen instead of a tractor tyre as that is for walking on a muddy road
- The tread of the wheels just use photobashing and can simplify it
- The cream colour looks more suitable as it can suit the world created for environment design, can think of a combination between #2 and #4
- Limit the golden colour to a few specific focus point such as the tank, pipes and gears

Week 7
- Notice the volume and scale of the tyres
- For land vehicle, base choose #1, tyres choose #4, make #1 engine bigger, use #3's front face/ kangaroo bar, incorporate the small smoke pipe from #4

Week 6
- Improve front wheel stability by increasing the thickness
- Look at varieties that you can explore such as type of cars as the foundation/ have varieties of each component
- Improve the functionality

Week 5
- Use a thinner brush for handwriting
- For air vehicle, develop #1, adjust the perspective. Ideas can be further developed, find more references on engines, gears, bolts etc.
- Add more details such as logo, grill, headlight, rods intersecting etc.
- For land vehicle, develop #1 (can be the primary vehicle) and incorporate the engines from #2
- For water vehicle, develop #2, take reference from Blue Beetle's ship and Hellboy

Week 4
- Create the moodboard for the ideations
- Designs have to be based on references to real vehicles or else it is hard to relate to real-world

REFLECTION

The final colour chosen was very unexpected but I was glad that I adapted quickly in making sure my vehicle matched the setting in my Environment Design. Now having a design that is locked down, I have a sense of reassurance and what is left is to work on the interior and further polish the exterior in Final Project. I have learned to not dwell on one specific stage for too long and sort out my priorities in a more efficient manner.
