TASK
Side quest exercise
Share personal burnout experience. Limited to 30 minutes of writing time.
i) PLANNING
Task delegation on different scenes.
At this stage, we still haven't agreed on a specific art style we want. However, we still made a sketch for the storyboard and this is the draft for an animated storyboard.
Moodboard for the character style we are going for. We decided on doing animal characters because we do not have to animate clothes and detailed fingers.
ii) DIGITALISATION
To ensure the consistency of the character design in our animation, a few of us got into a voice chat channel and discussed about the concept art sheet while Trinity is designing the vectors. The facial expression sheet makes it easier for the illustrator team in the group to reference from. We wanted a balance between a bear and a humanoid while making sure the length of the limbs are enough for expressiveness.
We then delegated tasks and I was handling the vectors for the following scenes in a 1-minute draft progress check. (The 3rd scene was then reworked by Jonathan for improvement as I had to rush through it).
We then proceeded with the rest of the animation and I was in charge of the following scenes: Overworking, Perfectionism and Loneliness. I have also created vectors to represent each problem in an abstract symbol that will be used in other scenes too such as Depression and Purposelessness.

REFLECTION
The excel sheet that was prepared actually saved a lot of time for us in the planning stage which allowed us to put more focus on just creating the illustration and the animation. Despite that, I felt like everyone in the team including myself have lost the momentum to just finish the task on hand. It is a reasonable workload in my opinion, but the passiveness in the group drains me out further and I just have to accept that there will be group members who appreciate your initiativeness, there will be the ones who just take it for granted and be a dead weight. The best I can do without sacrificing my well-being is to complete my part on time and cooperate with the other members who are still being responsible for their tasks.
There are definitely new things I have learned about the software because of 1 or 2 members in my group, but working with some members who have very different work ethics to the point we are not meeting deadlines is exhausting. They will still do their part when asked to do it, but I think that is the thing, they have to be asked to do it. I guess I still have not recovered from last semester's burnout (pun not intended) to handle simple communication tasks like these. Everyone is actually easy to communicate with, I just had hoped that more members worked more independently to be on track.
