REFLECTION

Experience
I am still digesting the fact that I got exposed to so many aspects related to the graphic design field in such a short time span. Well, I know that is probably not even the tip of the iceberg but it was overwhelming to me as these were the things I would have never taken interest in knowing more. Thus, the combination of lack of initial interest and observation in graphic design-ish work actually became a burden for me in going through this module at first. Undoubtedly, after going through so many course work, I have expanded my horizon of knowledge particularly in graphic design work as previously, I felt that the technical stuff is too hard to learn to the point I avoided trying it. However, looking back at how much work I have done and learned, my sense of achievement skyrocketed.

Observations
The whole module felt like a 'touch-n-go' journey but I managed to try out many things in such a short time span. There is a good sense of freshness or excitement for new things in each assignment, at least for me. I am exposed to a variety of exercises pushing me to explore the tools in Adobe Illustrator and InDesign as well as trying out new ways to create a design, mainly thinking of what is the most efficient tool for a particular task. Looking back, the tasks itself are not a lot but it was difficult in terms of having to learn to use various software that are so new to me and of course, knowing what is a good design and creating it.

Findings
This module is like a boot camp for training an eye for details. I cannot tolerate any small misalignment anymore and it made me more attentive to the tidiness of my own design work. In addition, after knowing the fact that typography consists of tons of technicalities, I have learned to be more patient when approaching design work that requires strict guidelines. I would not say that I like it as I still lean towards having my own freedom of creating artwork however I want. However, when there are rules I have to follow, I will follow them because I know those are the remedies to create a good design. All in all, it was a fruitful learning experience in typography.
