REFLECTION

Experience
Looking back at my overall reflection from Typography module in the last semester, I can tell that my mindset and confidence have grown, even if it is just a tad bit. Did I get better at my technical skills? Maybe not so much because I have been using the same tools exposed in the previous semester. Am I clear about what I am designing for? Yes, I rarely get uncertain about the purpose of my design anymore and even if I do, I have a better ability to reflect on what's wrong and figure out if there is a solution to it. Even though sometimes I could not find a solution, I am still glad that I am aware of the problems that exist in my design through mostly my gut feeling as I have not reached the level where I can always put my thoughts in words.

Observations
The work done required to be shown in the submission looks a bit lesser than in Typography. However, a lot more time was used to complete the tasks this semester as more delicate thoughts and processes were implemented in the early stage of all designs and they are the elements that support the designs I felt satisfied with. The workload was very much tolerable at the start of the semester but increased at a steep level towards the end. However, the strict deadlines set for this module were the reason I managed to plan everything ahead and stayed on track.

Findings

I learned that patience is the key to many good designs and if there is a slight lack of patience when making a design, it will show. Finding the interest in making a project successful is crucial because not all times can we choose to do anything in any way we prefer, there is still a brief to follow. The key is to work in a way where it would benefit your own interest and also the design objective at the same time, cultivating a win-win situation. If I were to be honest, I do not think I have improved a lot within just 3 months but I am very proud of myself because all my work is honest work and I poured lots of dedication to make it unique in my own sense. I think that the special trait of being a designer is the ability to feel so personal and attached to your own work to the point that even if there are flaws in it, there is still a sense of appreciation for the effort made to create the design.
